Spoiler-heavy Spider-Man trailer establishes a way forward for Disney’s Marvel Universe

A new trailer for “Spider-Man: Far From Home” has just been released, and it’s setting up a way for Marvel to finally unite the disparate elements of its franchises.

The trailer contains a pretty huge spoiler for “Avengers: Endgame,” so be prepared, but it also reveals how Disney’s super-heroically successful Marvel franchise will enter the next phase of its development (after 22 films and nearly $21 billion in box office receipts).

The secret, it seems, to the next iteration of Marvel movies and shows will be through the concept of the multiverse that was first floated in the Academy Award-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

In the new film, a super-powered being from another version of Earth (apparently) needs the help of a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to stop some evil from destroying the world.

Avengers: Endgame becomes the first film to break $1 billion in an opening weekend

In its opening weekend, “Avengers: Endgame” made breaking box office records look like a snap.

The last film in what Marvel Studios dubbed phase three of its rollout of characters and plots in an ever-expanding cinematic universe is a box office marvel raking in an estimated $1.2 billion at the box office.

Benefiting from a $350 million domestic debut and another $859 million in global box office receipts, it’s clear that the Marvel Studios franchise has achieved super heroic returns for Disney since its 2009 acquisition for $4 billion.

“Avengers: Endgame” hit the billion-dollar mark in five days, faster than its predecessor Avengers:Infinity War, which held the previous record at 11 days (but still not faster than a speeding bullet).

Thanos will snap away your Google search results

Go to Google (don’t worry, I’ll wait). Type in “Thanos.” Click the little cartoon Infinity Gauntlet on the right side. Now sit back in horror as Evil Space Grimace snaps half of your search results into dust in the wind.

Call it an Easter egg or Snap Engine Optimization. It’s a fun little promotion for the last movie that needs any promoting at this point, having just sailed past $60 million for the biggest-ever Thursday preview.
